Alphabet Accordion Book
‘T,’ ‘W’ & ‘Y’ Page Spread

Description
Alphabet Accordion Book done as a class project in my Introduction to Book Arts course.

For this book each student in class was given two consecutive letters of the alphabet. Then each student carved these letters into linolium blocks, printed the linolium blocks using the letterpress and decorated the resulting printed pages for their two letters using various different techniques. Then each student collected all the letters of the alphabet together from individual class members and bound all of these individual letter pages together into an accordion book. As a result each student ended up with a unique book, which was a collection of individual letter pages designed by different students in the class.

The letters that I was given were ‘W’ and ‘X.’ For these letters, I designed my own letterforms and then decorated the printed pages using rub on transfers and stencils.
