Nose Collage Page
For this project I thought of the different brands that I use and created a narrative website that dealt with these brands and how they related to my own identity.
Since the project was about how different brands relate to my identity I decided to entitle the site ‘Identity.’ I placed the title ‘Identity’ over an image representing a barcode because as I was researching I started feeling like I was just another product to be bought and sold to different companies through their advertising campaigns.
I started out by thinking about what brands of products I used for different parts of my body. Then I found images from the different brands and collaged them together. After that I had to figure out how these collages would be accessed on a website. My solution was to create a homepage with a diagram of a person and numbers corresponding to the different parts of the body with the idea that when you clicked on the different numbers of the body parts a collage of the brands that I associate with that body part would pop up in its own window. Finally, I realized that a person visiting the site wouldn’t know what the site was about so I included a brief artist’s statement on homepage of the site.
