CVA Merit Badges Exercise
All Four Badges

Description
For this exercise I created four different merit badge designs to represent areas of expertise that I’d mastered while at the College of Visual Arst (CVA).

To start off this exercise I researched merit badges like those of the Girl Scouts or Brownies. I found that the key to the design of a merit badge was to simplify the elements of the design so that they could fit into a small space and could be understood quickly. Some common elements in merit badges are the use of simple shapes such as circles, squares, triangles and diamonds, the use of borders to lock in the design and the use of type within the design to denote the name of the badge.
